What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Assistant-Ambulatory position at Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital?
Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital is a full service, 24/7-day a week, ambulatory and referral Veterinary Equine Hospital. We are currently are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to assist our Veterinarians in the field during their weekly appointments. Length of work day will depend on the Doctor schedule and could change daily but usually is within the 8am-5pm range. This is a Monday-Friday position. No Holidays or weekends.

(1) Ambulatory Field Technician/Assistant
Horse handling experience is a must as well as knowledge of equine behavior. Previous technician experience preferred. Ability to work well both independently and as a team player. Great attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to a changing fast paced environment.
Ambulatory position responsibilities include: stocking and loading of equipment needed for the day, setting up and using diagnostic equipment, restraining patient for diagnosis and treatment, preparing patient for treatment, lunging, trotting horse in hand, collection and handling of lab samples, venipuncture, billing for all appointments, and charting patient notes in records. Much of the patient billing and charting is done in the vehicle while driving. When returning from the field, you will be responsible for restocking the doctors truck, removing equipment that was needed for the day, and processing the lab work that was collected in the field.
*Must have basic computer skills and proficiency in typing.
*Must be able to jog a horse multiple times during appointments.
*Must have the ability to lift and carry 40 pounds , jog a horse in hand, ability to be on you feet for long periods of time, and be able to bend down and kneel.
Applicants should state their horse handling experience and include references regarding experience. Medical knowledge is preferred but not required.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
