SUMMARY
The Financial Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the Joint Missions Office. This position collaborates closely with the Missions Operations Directors and Missions Office Manager to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and accounting for both Home and World Missions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Process expense requisitions/journal entries for Home and World Mission fields District Mission Boards, and Administrative Committees.
- Maintain temporary advances distributions and balances accounting.
- Maintain Home Missions’ budget spreadsheet as changes are made.
- Serve as back up in preparing operating budgets for accounting.
- Reconcile payroll accounts receivable and prepare and e-mail invoices.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for World Mission congregational accounts
- Reconcile and process Home and World Mission credit card statements.
- Post monthly operating and project expense reports for Home and World Missions.
- Keep listing of Financial Edge queue reports updated for Financial Services.
- Assist with tracking designated project fund expenses
- Respond to e-mail and phone request regarding operating financials for Home and World Missions.
- Maintain individual home mission church subsidy reports.
- Assist with financial information requests for Joint Mission Office administrators, boards, chief financial officer, and other individuals as needed.
- Open and distribute mail.
- Other assigned administrative work as needed.

- Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with data and generate reports in Financial Edge Database
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the Joint Mission Office
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer skills are necessary in spreadsheets and databases and to a lesser degree word processing. Familiarity with cloud-based software, internet and websites are essential.
