SUMMARY
The Administrative Specialist will support the work of the Commission on Lutheran Schools. Applicant will perform tasks stated in job description as requested by the Director, Associate-Director, and National Coordinator of Early Childhood Ministries. Prepares various resources for WELS congregations and schools by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Approves and coordinates all accounts payable and receivable including department credit card activity
- Assists in developing and implementing CLS budget packages; manages transactions of all CLS special funds; interfaces with Financial Services for reporting financial activity of CLS office.
- Coordinates teacher and staff minister call list preparation and reporting and maintains communication with inactive teachers and radar list
- Coordinates the online purchasing center, processing/recording orders, producing reports
- Provides support for partnering agencies such as Powerschool and Learn 360
- Coordinates data entry activity of WELS teachers and communicates with WELS benefit services
- Maintains personnel and legal records on WELS and ELS teachers.
- Provides administrative support for the School Consulting Services program.
- Assists with CLS website by researching, compiling, writing, editing and preparing site information.
- Serves as a contact with other WELS/CMM units that provide support services and information necessary for CLS to carry out their work.
- Assists CLS staff and Congregational Services units with various projects and tasks as needed.
- Assists in mailings to WELS schools and teachers as needed
- Assists with planning/arranging events/meetings as needed
- Assists with the leadership projects as needed
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as gifts and personal interests permit

- Solid understanding of WELS doctrine and practice; working knowledge of WELS ministry and schools
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability and knowledge in accounting and budgeting
- Good computer skills;
- Experience with various types of software (MS Office, especially MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- Adaptive to working with WELS database.
- Ability to write business correspondence and present information effectively.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience working with Google docs and sheets
- Ability to work with data and generate reports in Synod database
- Ability to write business correspondence and present information effectively
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the CLS office
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree, preferred, or equivalent; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; preferably in a school setting
