As a seasonal Animal Care Technician at WHS, you will learn from and work alongside veterinary professionals, behavior experts, and a dedicated management team while providing care to primarily dogs and other animals as needed. Position Summary
Job Responsibilities
- Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, callers, and coworkers
- Provide dogs with food, water, walks, enrichment, and other essential daily needs
- Maintain clean animal housing following our high-standard cleaning guidelines
- Provide care to other species (cats, small animals, exotics) as needed
- Maintain accurate and objective records in our animal management software
- Work cooperatively within your own department and cross departmentally
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Available to work between 8-6 pm on weekdays and a consistent, weekly weekend shift.
- Position begins January 2025 - mid-May, dates negotiable
- Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry 25lbs to 50 lbs.

- Ability to manage assigned personal schedule and timecard
- Prior animal care and client service experience a plus

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis.
