What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds & Light Maintenance Laborer position at Wisconsin International Raceway, Inc?
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a seasonal position with employment from April through September. The seasonal laborer reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for unskilled labor essential to the maintenance and operations of Wisconsin International Raceway’s facility and grounds. This position is responsible for general groundskeeping and light maintenance of property, buildings, and equipment in preparation for events. This is a 40 hour per week position with a maximum of 1,300 hours for the season. Some weekend and evening hours are required. Schedule will vary depending on the weather and workload. Assume flexible work hours that vary in day length and schedule due to weather or other factors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate equipment such as trucks, mowers, string trimmers, tractors, etc.
· Perform landscape maintenance activities throughout the facility such as mowing, trimming, weeding, raking and litter pickup.
· Pick up trash and empty trash receptacles throughout the facility preparing for 3rd party garbage service pickup.
· Perform light concession equipment cleaning and maintenance such as grills, exhaust fans, coolers, popcorn machines, nacho machines, etc.
· Perform facility maintenance such as minor carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
· Perform light equipment maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, fluids checks and tire repair.
· Clean and maintain facilities such as restrooms, buildings, and storage areas.
· Replenishes supplies in restrooms, such as hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
· Stock and organize concession supplies upon delivery and for event setup.
· Emergency light maintenance and cleaning when scheduled for work during events.
· Perform general activities such as hanging up signs and power washing.
· Assist with general maintenance and repairs.
· Assist in land improvement projects as general labor.
· All other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of
· The use of hand and power tools.
· Basic maintenance techniques for landscape equipment and buildings.
· Basic knowledge of facility construction, maintenance, repair and operations.
Ability to
· Operate lawn mowing and maintenance equipment.
· Perform routine maintenance of various equipment.
· Work with both arms and hands, reaching and pulling at times.
· Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
· The ability to stand for and work on your feet most of the day.
· Follow oral and written instructions.
· Work with limited supervision.
· Follow safety procedures.
· Communicate effectively and respectfully with other employees, supervisors and the public.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
· Must be at least eighteen years of age.
· Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· This position is performed primarily in an outdoor setting, possibly in adverse weather conditions.
· Requires the ability to exert moderately heavy physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying, lifting heavy amounts, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
· Requires the ability to operate/use hand tools, power tools, motorized vehicles, and equipment.
