About Us:
The Wisconsin Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) was formed in 1991 to advance the best interest and well-being of Laborers and their families through the creation of a labor-management cooperation organization. LECET aims to promote the many benefits of union construction while addressing a number of initiatives that are of mutual benefit to both signatory union contractors and LIUNA members.
Summary:
Wisconsin LECET seeks a full-time Director to help carry out the goals and other issues faced by LIUNA Wisconsin members, signatory contractors, and the union construction industry. The Director will lead strategic planning and program development, coordinate promotional and marketing activities, promote union apprenticeships, and manage the organization’s day-to-day operations. The Director reports directly to the LECET Chairman and shall serve at the will of the Board of Trustees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a multifaceted strategy to effectively market and promote success in the union construction industry
- Promote opportunities at the Wisconsin Laborers’ Apprenticeship Training Center, highlighting how training results in a safe, skilled, and productive workforce
- Promotion of the apprenticeship model and supporting graduation ceremonies and special events
- Oversee marketing, advertising, and promotions following the LECET budget and the LIUNA branding and style guide
- Collaborate with the Wisconsin Laborers’ Apprenticeship & Training Fund’s Director of Outreach and Equity to promote and encourage women and minority entrance into the trades
- Collaborate with the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council Political & Communications Director on website and social media content management and advertising/branding campaigns
- Conduct new contractor orientations and meetings to assist in wage and fringe benefit set up, fringe benefit reporting, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, etc.
- Maintain contractor outreach via newsletters and e-mail
- Creation of a minority and woman-owned business enterprise mentorship program
- Identify and participate in organizations that will strengthen LIUNA Wisconsin’s relationships within the construction industry
- Promote project and job opportunities to LIUNA affiliated local unions and signatory contractors
- Work cooperatively with other union building and construction trades and their signatory contractors to promote and protect Wisconsin’s union construction industry
- Travel as needed throughout Wisconsin to fulfill duties
- Occasional evening and weekend engagements will be required, as well as potential out-of-state travel for conferences and/or conventions
- Work with office staff to properly manage all financial transactions and budgetary items
Experience and Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants will bring a combination of college-level training and relevant construction industry knowledge
- The Director should be a driven self-starter, with strong leadership abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills and a team player attitude are a plus
- Union membership is strongly encouraged, as well as a positive pro-union mentality
Compensation and Benefit:
The Director will earn a competitive salary commensurate with experience. In addition, the position includes health, vision, dental, pension plan, mobile phone, and company vehicle.
