What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student - Outdoor Maintenance position at Wisconsin Public Service?
Wisconsin Public Service, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Student - Outdoor Maintenance (Student Laborer-Plant/Hydro) in our Merrill, Wisconsin location.
This position will start in May or June 2025, works full-time, 7:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday during the summer months.
Starting pay: $18.27
Student Laborers perform duties (i.e. Indoor Cleaning & Maintenance, Outdoor Maintenance, Clerical/Customer Service, etc.) as assigned by the department. Student laborers work may be performed in the power plants, hydro plants, service center, warehouse, and other field locations.
- Indoor Cleaning & Maintenance (e.g. dusting, sweeping, painting, equipment/facility cleaning & maintenance, unloading & loading warehouse products, garbage removal, general cleaning, etc.)
- Outdoor Maintenance (e.g. yard maintenance/planting, lawn mowing, painting, snow removal, wash/dry vehicles, equipment, & facilities, basic landscaping, window washing, etc.)
- Maintain public WPS areas such as boat landings and recreational areas.
- Clerical/Customer Service (e.g. filing, copying, shredding, data entry, basic computer support, sending parcels, delivering mail/packages, answer phones, assist department on projects, etc.)
- All other laborer duties as assigned (e.g. running equipment to field locations, bobcat/forklift functions, flagging, errands, etc.)
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma, GED, or HSED.
- Enrolled as a part-time/full-time student pursuing a technical, associate, bachelor, or master degree.
- Valid driver's license.

Minimum Posting Range: $18.27
Maximum Posting Range: $20.37
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
