EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
This position is an unclassified single Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.
COMPENSATION:
The starting wage for this role will be $25-$27 per hour, based on qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Safety Management:
- Direct and manage all safety operations, including hiring, training, and supervising the safety team, and medical personnel
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety training program in line with current standards set by racing sanctioning bodies
- Work with third-party medical and safety teams for onsite placement, communications and expectations
- Develop, maintain, and update documentation for track operations
- Create and oversee the safety team schedule to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations
- Manage the maintenance, servicing, and inspection of fire extinguishers and safety equipment to guarantee event readiness
- Track and maintain safety equipment inventory
- Ensure adherence to State of Wisconsin procurement policies
- Supervise and assist with physical setup, management, and maintenance of track assets
- Deliver clear and concise written and verbal briefings to safety staff, including both WSFP staff and third-party medical and safety team staff, ensuring all information is shared for safe operations of every race event
- Work with the Event Manager to ensure proper staffing and procedures for all third-party safety and medical teams
- Supervise the observer team and coordinate with the Observer Coordinator to ensure proper staffing and effective information flow
- Work in coordination with the series Race Controller for each event to ensure safe and efficient race operations
- Serve as the Chief Steward, ensuring that all activities on the track comply with safety and regulatory requirements
- Document and maintain regular communication with management about race incidents and operational issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five years in a leadership position, preferably in emergency services such as firefighting, EMS, or dispatch
- Experience in security or law enforcement is a plus
- In-depth knowledge of race operations, including race control, pace car procedures, stewarding, flagging and communication systems, timing and scoring, and emergency response protocols
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and meet State of Wisconsin requirements for driving fleet vehicles
