The summer program director provides direction and leadership in the oversight, administration, budgeting, and management of multiple Wisconsin Youth Company summer day camps that serve around 400 campers each week of summer. The director hires, trains, and manages at least 50 seasonal staff and one year-round manager. The director ensures staff maintain state licensing and American Camp Association accreditation standards. This individual is a key member of Wisconsin Youth Company’s leadership team and collaborates with a team of program directors. During the months of September through May, the director supports Wisconsin Youth Company after school programs as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding and at least five years' experience with youth recreational programming
- Experience with WI State Child Care licensing and American Camp Association accreditation
- Experience hiring and managing a staff team
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- At least three years' experience in a management position
- Bachelor’s degree required, with coursework in recreation, education or similar field preferred
- Applicant must reside within Dane County
