Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crisis Counselor to provide immediate support and intervention to individuals experiencing acute emotional distress or crisis situations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, psychotherapy, and behavioral therapy, with the ability to assess needs and develop effective coping strategies. You will work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with autism, PTSD, and other mental health challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals in distress, ensuring a safe environment.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify immediate needs and develop appropriate action plans.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to assist clients in managing acute psychological crises.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with social workers, healthcare providers, and community resources to facilitate comprehensive care.
- Implement triage protocols to prioritize client needs effectively.
- Offer ongoing support and follow-up services as necessary to ensure client well-being.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in crisis management and behavioral therapy.
Experience
- A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in patient care, acute care settings, or crisis counseling is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Knowledge of PTSD care practices and behavioral therapy techniques is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical recordkeeping standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to empathize with clients in crisis.
