Job Title : Home Care Medical Biller / Accountant
Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Home Care Medical Biller / Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding and claims submission, and overseeing financial operations related to home care services. This role requires expertise in medical billing, familiarity with healthcare regulations, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities :
Medical Billing Duties :
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid for home care services.
Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
Ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Monitor claims to ensure timely reimbursement and resolve any denials or payment discrepancies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and compliance standards specific to home care services.
Accounting Duties :
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
Reconcile payments received against submitted claims and maintain financial records.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Assist in budgeting and financial forecasting for home care operations.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and audit requirements.
General Duties :
Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing issues.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient financial records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist in developing and improving billing workflows and accounting procedures.
Qualifications :
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in home care or healthcare services (preferred).
Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Kareo, Brightree, or similar).
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid billing.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (CPC, CMC, or similar) is a plus.
Skills and Competencies :
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, insurers, and team members.
