Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Inventory Manager to support our growing cabinet manufacturing operations. This role is critical in maintaining accurate inventory levels, minimizing material shortages or overstock, and ensuring that production flows without interruption. The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, control, and accuracy of raw materials, parts, and finished goods across our warehouse and production areas. This position ensures that the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities to support efficient cabinet manufacturing, reduce waste, and control costs. A hands-on role, it involves close collaboration with purchasing, production, and warehouse teams to track material flow and support operational goals. The Inventory Manager is also expected to become a subject matter expert in all aspects of material flow, inventory systems, and stock optimization within the cabinet manufacturing process. This role includes leading and managing the inventory team to ensure accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Inventory Manager duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise Warehouse and Inventory Staff: Oversee and train staff responsible for inventory management tasks.
- Track and Maintain Inventory Levels: Monitor inventory levels and reorder products as necessary to avoid stockouts.
- Manage Inventory Records: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions including purchases, returns, and shipments.
- Coordinate with Procurement: Communicate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any issues related to orders.
- Conduct Regular Audits: Perform regular inventory audits to ensure physical stock matches the inventory records.
- Manages the Inventory Cycle Time Process
- Ensure compliance with Inventory Control Procedures: Develop and enforce procedures for inventory control to prevent theft, loss, and obsolescence.
- Improve Inventory Processes: Continuously seek and recommend ways to improve inventory management processes for greater efficiency, cost savings and accuracy.
- Optimize Storage Space: Organize the storage area to optimize space and ensure easy access to inventory.
- Analyze Inventory Data: Use data analysis to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed inventory decisions.
- Manage Inventory Software: Utilize inventory management software to track and manage inventory efficiently.
- Monitor inventory levels and determine purchase needs to update the software to ensure correct scheduling of procurements. Work with procurement to ensure the accuracy of the system.
- Handle Returns and Defective Goods: Process returns and manage defective goods to minimize losses.
- Coordinate Material Distribution: Ensure accurate and timely distribution of materials to the appropriate departments and between sites.
- Collaborate with Other Departments: Work closely with team members and managers to align goals and meet Metrics.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce cost
Qualifications & Required Skills
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (required; relevant experience may substitute).
- 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in manufacturing or distribution.
- 1–2 years of supervisory experience leading warehouse or inventory teams.
- Experience in cabinet manufacturing or building materials industry is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and inventory management tools.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control procedures, cycle counting, stock rotation, and warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with barcode/RFID scanning systems and data collection tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills—able to identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear and professional communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Capable of leading, coaching, and holding team members accountable.
- Solid skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
