We are seeking a business leader/general manager to lead the SW Ohio region. This position will oversee locations in Cincinnati, Kettering, Franklin and Hamersville Ohio. Electrical market experience is preferred but will consider plumbing market experience or other experience managing multiple profit centers

Position Summary

The General Manager is a key senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the region?s operations and profitably growing the region. This role carries full P&L responsibility, ensuring the delivery of budgeted financial targets, developing and leading a high-performing team, managing inventory efficiently, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Performance
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring all financial targets are met.
  • Develop and execute an annual business plan to improve the region?s financial performance and increase EBITDA, as measured by exceeding best-in-class bench markets for EBITDA/Sales ratios.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of the business, including forecasting, revenue management, cost control, and profitability.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide regular updates to the President and Executive Team.
  • Sales Leadership
  • Direct management of Outside and Inside sales teams in the region.
  • The GM has ownership of account assignment to maximize dynamic, profitable growth.
  • Establishes strong personal relationships with key decision-makers for strategic accounts.
  • Review / Monitor sales representatives? budgets to ensure stated annual objectives are achieved.
  • Responsible for achieving revenue and gross margin goals of the annual budget.
  • Responsible for the profitable growth of the counter/sales floor of the region?s branches.
  • Implement business development sales strategies, expand share of wallet at existing customers, achieve customer retention goals and meet or exceed customer satisfaction results.
  • Customer Excellence
  • Ensure the region exceeds the customer?s expectations through the entire sales and fulfillment process.
  • Achieve stated goals and KPIs for customer service excellence.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  • Address and resolve customer issues promptly and effectively.
  • Operational Leadership
  • Responsible for maintaining optimal staff levels aligning those to branch revenue, profitability, and service levels.
  • Direct daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and improve performance.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Team Development
  • Recruit, train, and develop an accountable, high-performance team.
  • Responsible for selecting and training operational leaders at the branch locations within the region.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to the team; conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing development opportunities.
  • Inventory Management
  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and turnover.
  • Implement inventory control measures to ensure accuracy and maximize turns while meeting company goals for excess/obsolete.
  • Ensure inventory is in the right place and in the right quantities to efficiently and effectively service customers? requirements.
  • Marketing, Sales Growth, and Supplier Collaboration
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share.
  • Monitor and adjust pricing strategies to meet goals of strategic pricing while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Collaborate with marketing to align regional goals with company strategies.
  • Develop mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers and manufacturer representatives to ensure the company is a preferred partner of choice in the market.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to the business.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree or industry experience managing a full P&L
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a management role within a wholesale supply or distribution business
  • Demonstrated record for successfully managing P&L responsibilities, forecasting, budget development, and achieving budgeted goals.

  • Foundation for understanding inventory management principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in business systems including ERP, WMS, and data analytical programs such as PHOCAS & Strategic Pricing / SPARXiQ, and Office 365 products.

Physical Working Requirements

  • Mobility and Flexibility:
    • Ability to move around the facility, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs for extended periods.
    • Occasionally need to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch to inspect products, equipment, or facilities.
  • Lifting and Carrying:
    • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, such as boxes, inventory items, or equipment, occasionally.
    • Ability to use tools or equipment, such as hand trucks or pallet jacks, for moving heavier items as needed.
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, and written communication clearly.
    • Adequate vision to inspect products, read labels, and operate equipment.
    • Good hearing to communicate effectively in person and over the phone in a sometimes noisy environment.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, office equipment, and tools.
    • Ability to handle paperwork, manage inventory, and perform data entry efficiently.
  • Work Environment:
    • Work is primarily performed in an office setting, but regular visits to the warehouse or distribution areas are required.
    • Exposure to varying temperatures, depending on the location within the facility (e.g., warehouse, loading docks, etc.)
    • Occasional exposure to dust, noise, and other typical warehouse conditions.
  • Travel:
    • Required travel within the region?s territory
    • May require occasional travel to other company locations, supplier meetings, or industry events, which could involve driving or flying.
  • Extended Hours:
    • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, during peak seasons or when meeting deadlines.
  • Safety:
    • Must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
