Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Origin and FTA Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be a key player in ensuring that WNC is in compliance with US import laws and regulations; maximize savings through duty minimization programs; support operational objectives; and increase efficiency in cross border activity.
You will be responsible for the implementation of available refund request programs and multinational agreements to maximize allowable duty savings opportunities and reduce WNC's cost of cross border activity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Administration of available Free Trade Agreements
Coordination of annual solicitation of FTA information from WNC Suppliers
Performing targeted solicitation on as needed basisPerforming annual FTA analysis for WNC productsReview of high runner reports for USMCA evaluation from WNC Mexican facilityGeneration of certificates and distribution to WNC approved brokersAssist Customer Service in FTA analysis for products sold to strategic customersMaintenance of internal share-point to ensure proper record retentionEnsure the analysis information is retained to support any Customs inquiries on FTA claimsAnalyze available trade data and identify new opportunities to increase savingsAssisting in annual USMCA reconciliation programsFree Trade Agreement procedures managementCountry of origin determination for WNC manufactured goods in US and MX plants.Familiarity with principles of substantial transformation and CFR134 marking rules along with CFR102 rules of origin / COO marking.
Update NA ERP system with correct Country of OriginWork with engineering to ensure proper Country of Origin marking on product label / packagingThe FTA / Origin Specialist must maintain effective relationships as he / she will serve as a liaison with Customer Care for trade data requests.Ensure accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications applicable for the United States, the European Union and other World Trade Organization countries throughout the world.Maintain audit ready documentation to support the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications assigned.Determine the correct ECCN classifications applicable for WNC products, components, supplies, and materials.Determine if any applicable WNC products, components, supplies, and materials are classified as dangerous goods and provide the subsequent UN labeling and documentation requirements.Depending on experience and qualifications, you may perform other responsibilities such as ensuring that internal controls regarding the tariff classification, including written procedures, are fully implemented to ensure audit-ready import compliance; training all functions outside the trade compliance team on an annual basis so that internal controls remain current and reflective of actual business practices, and other functions' practices support full compliance with customs regulations.Required :
Demonstrated ability to correctly assign harmonized tariff codes to productsDemonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills and global mindset.Detail-oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks, with little or no direct supervision.Customer-focused and a strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g. contributor, facilitator).Fluent in English.Proficiency in three of the following : Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio.Preferred :
Customs compliance experience in a manufacturing environment in a major corporation or professional services firm.Engineering or other technical experience.Leadership skills and experience managing outside service providersExperience using Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements.Note : This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
