Job Summary
The Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department. Must be extremely conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Responsible for decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, and supplies as needed for patient care. Performs necessary work per manufacturer instructions to disassemble, clean, assemble, sterilize, store, and dispense/deliver/restock equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedure and aseptic techniques. Will participate in on-call after hours and holiday rotation, as needed.
The Surgery Department is a dynamic and specialized unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients across the age spectrum undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Our care team collaborates seamlessly to support 4 operating room suites, 2 endoscopy suites as well as a dedicated OB OR suite. We facilitate diverse procedures across multiple specialties, including ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, pediatric dental and neurology. Minimum Education/License/Certification Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year experience.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Certified Central Sterile Technician preferred.
- Certification is required within one year of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification and education provided.
