Job Summary
Hospitalists provide care in collaboration with physicians. Hospitalist are authorized to prescribe medication per state requirements. The Hospitalist is an expert in a special field and works directly with patients who have specific needs such as mental health, orthopedics, cardiac, pediatric and geriatrics. Hospitalist work with families and individuals to lend their expertise in areas like women's care, mental health, adult acute care, geriatrics and pediatrics. They focus on general health and well-being, in addition to patient education and prevention. Hospitalists have acquired the knowledge base and practice experience that prepare them for specialization, expansion (new skills), and selected practice roles.

Minimum Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program with an advanced degree (master's or doctorate) degree from an accredited nursing program or has completed an accredited Physician Assistant degree program.
- Must hold an unrestricted license to practice in the State of Indiana.
- Must have two (2) years acute care clinical experience.
- Must be nationally certified in Advanced Practice Specialty with recent clinically related experience in this specialty.
- Be able to obtain prescriptive privileges required and the ability to maintain current privileges (to be allowed prescriptive authority) and exercise a well written collaborative practice agreement with a designated physician submitted to the State of indiana Nursing board before prescriptive authority responsibilities are performed.
