Fast growing, high-performing Wize Computing Academy of Northwest Arkansas is an education enrichment service for students ages 4-16 to learn Computer Coding, Robotics and Engineering from a combination of online products and offline materials. Programs at Wize Computing Academy are designed to meaningfully extend STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) learning and expanding a child's mind through the development of critical thinking, logic and reasoning skills. We prepare students to be innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!
Wize Computing Academy of Northwest Arkansas is looking for an After-School STEM Teacher. We are looking for trained teachers first, so if you aren't an expert in computer coding, that's ok. We have a great training program to get you familiar with our curriculum. We have relationships with schools in NW Arkansas, where our teachers enter the schools at the end of the school day, and provide our classes to students who choose to stay after and learn. The classes are FUN with projects to create each week, and the children are highly engaged in these interesting and challenging topics.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Effectively manage a classroom with children who range from age 4 years to 16 years old (not all at the same time!)
- Engage students in fun and relevant lessons based on established curriculum and specific classroom needs
- Observe and track students' progress and attendance
- Reinforce positive student behavior and classroom rules
- Maintain a positive relationship with all students, families and staff
- Communicate with management to discuss student progress, needs and concerns
- Skillfully utilizes classroom management skills both onsite (in-person at schools) and online (video conferencing classes), depending on the needs of the schools and students
- Ability to present oneself and one's ideas with clarity, confidence and poise
- Prior teaching experience is a plus
Qualifications:
- Person of high moral-character who is good with kids
- Strong abilities in classroom management
- Passionate about learning, and in particular, learning about computer science and other STEM subjects
- Technology-Confident: Understanding of technology, including software, programming and hardware
- Ability to adapt to changing environment and address varying needs
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Energetic and willing to learn new things
- Clear background check is mandatory

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
