Position Summary: This position will work closely with the Distribution management team to help coordinate activities of employees engaged in receiving, picking and warehouse activities. This position is responsible for the efficient handling and shipment of finished products to meet customer requirements. Will be a resource for employees to help improve department and individual performance. Work is performed under the general direction of the Distribution Operations Supervisor.

Hours: 9am-5:30pm

Key Competencies:

  • Previous Team Leader and or supervisory experience.

  • A proven ability to work as part of a Team.
  • Previous experience with RF scanning equipment and a familiarity with MS Office specific to Excel.
  • A keen “eye" for detail and the ability to get the “big picture" while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to effectively communicate to a diverse team of Employee Owners and Temporary Employees and report operational information both verbally and in written format.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Promotes and assures a Safe Work Environment in all of our processes and actions in accordance with all Barr policy guidelines as well as local, state and federal laws.
  • Leads all activities related to receiving, picking and warehouse activities. Ensures activities of Warehouse Operators, Forklift Operators, Order Fillers, Shipping Coordinators, and others are successfully completed.
  • Continuously drives for improvement; identifies areas for improvement, creates and maintains an environment that promotes employee engagement, teamwork and focus on results.
  • Develops, trains, and evaluates employees; develops flexible work force that can respond quickly to changing customer/distribution requirements; coaches and helps employee’s with Job duties.
  • Ensures all performance metrics are met; Gives daily feedback to Distribution Management team
  • Manages employee workload and staff utilization, including temporary employees; recommends personnel changes
  • Ensures all product is properly received and put away in the distribution center and are available for picking and shipping to customers.
  • Performs all work in accordance with Barr’s safety and quality guidelines and procedures; demonstrates clear understanding of these safety and quality objectives.
  • Performs other work and special projects as required by the Distribution Operations Supervisor.

Qualifications/Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a distribution or warehouse environment. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred but not required.


Must have effective organization and follow-up skills; effective verbal and written communication skills, effective root cause analysis and problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to identify and investigate discrepancies and respond in a timely manner; ability to participate in multi-functional teams; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Barr organization; ability to recommend and implement new processes; must have working knowledge of computer applications and data base systems. Some overtime may be required.


Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:

  • Typical warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise level.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, talk, see, and hear and hand/wrist use for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read and understand general business periodicals, professional journals, government regulations, etc.; ability to prepare reports, charts, and graphs; ability to document issues and resolutions; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and managers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in routine situations. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with use of appropriate equipment.
  • Ability work near moving machinery and/or places above ground level and to have limited exposure to fumes or airborne particles and/or toxic or caustic chemicals; may have occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and extreme heat or cold.
