Job Details : Job Summary :
The Clinical Technologist is responsible for all activities with blood and blood components including, but not limited to, logging-in the units, thawing plasma, thawing and pooling cryoprecipitate, irradiate products and washing RBCs; setting up patient or blood product samples for testing by a technologist / automated machine; maintenance of lab equipment.
Responsibilities :
- Performing type and screen testing, cross matching, and antibody identification
- Calculating and preparing blood for exchange transfusion
- Ensuring blood inventory control is maintained at acceptable levels
- Recording all quality control and quality assurance activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed
- Ensuring all blood components intended for transfusion are in accordance with cGMP as required by NYSDOH, FDA, AABB, CAP and NYBC
- Handling other related functions as needed
Qualifications / Requirements :
Experience :
Transfusion Service or as a Generalist with prior Blood Bank experience preferred
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or MT
Licenses / Certifications :
Clinical Lab Technologists
