Job Summary:
Collaborates with the healthcare team under direct RN supervision to provide patient care, maintain ED environment and perform various duties.
Responsibilities:
- Registers patients, obtains signatures for treatment consent and insurance benefits.
- OBTAINS INSURANCE CARDS AND ID
- Completes ED forms with legible handwriting.
- Assists in record documentation, obtaining vital signs, complaints and height/weight as needed.
- Enters orders.
- Assists with ambulance communication from the ED.
- Xeroxes medical records for transfers or admissions.
- Orders supplies and maintains a clean ED environment.
- Retrieves medical records from HIM when closed.
- Performs EKGs, applies cardiac monitor, NIBP and pulse oximeter.
- Ensures specimen collection, labeling and delivery.
- Transports patients safely and assists MD/PA/NP with instruments and extremities.
- Maintains sterile technique and cleans instruments.
- Obtains ice for ED use.
- Assists on acute care when needed.
- Is knowledgeable of equipment location, care and use.
- Knows policies and procedures specific to the ED.
- Additional duties assigned.
- Makes transfer packs and calls on-call staff per instruction.
- Setup telemedicine equipment.
Qualifications:
Experience:
1-2 years preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications/Licenses:
BLS Certification required.
EMT Certification preferred.
