Emergency Department Registered Nurse Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team at WMCHealth.
About the Position:
- As a RN in our Emergency Department, you will be responsible for providing excellent patient care, working collaboratively with the Clinical Manager and interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
- Key responsibilities include conducting thorough patient assessments, coordinating care, teaching patients and support systems, communicating effectively with the healthcare team, administering medications, and participating in quality performance and improvement processes.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct holistic assessments, identify potential problems, and develop plans of care.
- Patient Care/Discharge Planning: Coordinate care, collaborate with patients and support systems, and achieve desired outcomes.
- Teaching: Provide ongoing teaching to patients and support systems using evidence-based practice.
- Communication: Demonstrate effective communication skills and advocate for patients' rights.
- Treatment/Procedures: Perform treatments and procedures according to established policies and standards.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information to ensure effective communication and excellent outcomes.
- Medication Administration: Assess, administer, monitor, and evaluate medications, teaching patients and support systems about safe medication use.
- Quality Performance and Improvement (QPI): Participate in QPI processes to achieve excellent patient outcomes and improve processes.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, currently licensed in New York State, or permittee.
- Minimum one year Med/Surg experience preferred, with two years critical care or emergency room experience being advantageous.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required, with TNCC, ENPC, and CEN being preferred.
