Registered Nurse (RN)
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with the Clinical Manager and interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: The RN conducts thorough and ongoing holistic assessments, identifying and prioritizing current and potential problems, and developing individualized plans of care that address patients' needs and concerns.
- Patient Care/Discharge Planning: Nurses are accountable for coordinating care, collaborating with patients, support systems, and healthcare teams to meet patients' present and discharge needs, and achieving desired outcomes.
- Teaching: The RN provides individualized, ongoing teaching to patients and support systems throughout the continuum of care, utilizing current evidence-based practice and sound clinical skills.
- Communication: As a professional, the RN demonstrates mutual respect and collaboration when communicating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, using effective communication skills and advocating for patients' rights.
- Treatment/Procedures: The RN performs all treatments and procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and patient care standards, collaborating with the MD and healthcare team as needed.
- Documentation: The RN accurately documents pertinent patient information, utilizing the nursing process on required forms or fields/screens to ensure effective communication and excellent patient outcomes.
- Medication Administration: The RN provides all aspects of the medication process, including assessment, administration, monitoring, and evaluation, and teaches patients and support systems about safe medication use.
- Quality Performance and Improvement (QPI): The RN actively participates in QPI processes to achieve excellent patient outcomes and improve processes, including identifying problems, collecting data, analyzing results, implementing corrective action plans, and sustaining improvements.
- Delegation to and Development of Co-workers: The RN delegates tasks accurately to LPNs, CNAs, and other ancillary personnel, according to their Scope of Practice, job description, individual competence, and patient needs, while supervising and orienting co-workers from novice to expert.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, currently licensed in the State of New York, or permittee. Membership in a professional organization is suggested.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year Med/Surg experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years critical care or emergency room experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Knowledge of appropriate technology and practice standards for area of responsibility. Demonstrates sound clinical skills; knowledge of Hospital structure, objectives and standards of practice, positive communication skills.
Training/License:
- New York State Registered Nurse license required, or permittee.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications required. TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred.
