Although we offer advanced animal care services, such as insulin injection and subcutaneous fluids administration, these skills are not required for employment.

Job Description:
Are you passionate about pets and seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in their lives? Look no further! We are currently seeking an overnight house sitter to join our around-the-clock service team. As an overnight house sitter, your primary responsibility will involve staying at the client's home, ensuring the comfort and well-being of both their house and beloved pets throughout the day and night. Your duties will include providing companionship, feeding, administering medication if necessary, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment. Utilizing our convenient phone app, you will provide 2-3 real-time visit reports daily, keeping clients informed and reassured of their pets' welfare. Most reservations span 2-14 days, affording you the flexibility to accept or decline based on your availability. Additionally, you'll have the freedom to allocate up to 4 hours daily for personal errands while ensuring continuous care for the pets under your charge. If interested, you may also be assigned daytime drop-in visits and walks for other clients.

IMPORTANT: Please note that all house sitting assignments require your approval before being assigned. You will never be obligated to accept assignments for specific dates. However, once you have confirmed an assignment, we require you to honor the agreed-upon dates, regardless of any changes to your personal plans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in using mobile applications
  • Ability to follow instructions diligently and adapt to varying pet care routines
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules and occasional last-minute assignments
  • Making sure all pets are present and healthy
  • Assess and report suspected illnesses or injuries in common pets species (cats, dogs, reptiles, rodents, etc.)
  • House sitting duties include but are not limited to: mail collection, floor cleaning, watering of plants, wash used bed sheets on last day, and make sure to return home in same clean state it was on first day.
  • Animal Care duties: potty breaks (yard or neighborhood walk), feeding and replenishing of water, medication administration (if necessary), play time, waste clean up, rotation and topping off litter box(es), etc.
  • Help with drop-in visits and dog walks upon availability if interested: (explanation of duties below (*)

(*) DOG WALKING: Walking dogs on a leash (max 2 dogs at a time) in the pet owner's neighborhood for the amount of time scheduled - increments of 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The dog walker will need to make sure the owner's pets are walked in a safe manner.

(*)DROP-IN VISITS: Visiting pets at the owner's house. Drop-in home visits require cleaning of the yard or litter box, feeding, nail trims, playtime with pets, etc. May include other tasks such as watering plants, bringing in the mail, or taking out garbage/recycling

Requirements:

  • Availability for Overnight Shifts: Candidates must be available to provide overnight pet sitting services, typically ranging from evening to morning hours. Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, is essential.
  • Responsible and Trustworthy: The ability to responsibly manage clients' homes and ensure the safety and well-being of their pets during overnight stays is paramount. Candidates must demonstrate trustworthiness and reliability in fulfilling their duties.
  • Experience with Pet Care: Prior experience in pet care, such as pet sitting, veterinary assistance, or animal shelter work, is highly preferred. Knowledge of basic pet behavior, feeding schedules, medication administration, and emergency procedures is beneficial.
  • Compassionate and Patient: A genuine love for animals and a compassionate approach to pet care are fundamental. Candidates should exhibit patience, understanding, and empathy towards pets, especially during overnight stays in unfamiliar environments.
  • Physical Fitness: Overnight pet sitting may involve activities such as walking dogs, cleaning litter boxes, and providing general care for pets. Candidates should be physically fit and capable of handling the demands of the job, including lifting and bending up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Effective communication with pet owners is essential. Candidates must be able to provide detailed updates on pet behavior, health, and any incidents that occur during the overnight stay. Clear and prompt communication via our app is expected.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to adapt to unexpected situations and resolve any issues that may arise during the overnight stay is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate quick thinking, resourcefulness, and sound judgment in handling various pet-related scenarios.
  • Reliable Transportation: Access to reliable transportation is necessary for traveling to and from clients' homes for overnight stays. Candidates should have a valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle for commuting.
  • Pet First Aid & CPR Certification: Certification in Pet First Aid & CPR is highly desirable. Candidates who are not already certified should be willing to undergo training and obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe after being hired.
  • Background Check: Candidates will be required to undergo a background check as part of the hiring process to ensure the safety and security of clients' homes and pets.
  • Certification: The sole certification required for this position is Pet First Aid & CPR. If you do not already possess this certification, you will have a two-week window to obtain it upon joining our team.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in animal care: Candidates with experience as a veterinary technician, dog walker, pet trainer, or pet groomer are preferred. This background demonstrates a solid understanding of animal behavior and care practices.
  • 1 year of customer service experience: Prior experience in customer service is required, showcasing the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and provide exceptional service.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting animal body language: An understanding of animal behavior and body language is essential for anticipating their needs and ensuring their well-being.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds: The job may involve lifting heavy objects or animals, so candidates should be physically capable of handling such tasks.
  • Physical fitness: The role requires a lot of walking, running, and physical activity, so candidates should have no physical constraints and be able to sustain prolonged periods of activity.

Compensation

The salary for Overnight House Sitters is based on experience, with opportunities to earn additional income through tips and job-specific earnings. Below is a breakdown of our starting pay rates:

  • Overnight Stay (12 hours): $75 per night (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM). This requires only a few hours of care, with the remaining time paid for sleeping.
  • 24-Hour Stay: $100 per day, with up to 4 hours of personal time allowed outside the home each day.
  • Miscellaneous pay for house sitting: $10 per additional pet per night tips.
  • Drop-In Visits and Walks:
  • 30 minutes: $15.00 additional pet fees, holiday fees, and tips
  • 45 minutes: $18.00 additional pet fees, holiday fees, and tips
  • 60 minutes: $21.00 additional pet fees, holiday fees, and tips

Cancellation Policy:

  • We offer partial compensation for services canceled within 72 hours of the scheduled start time.
