What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Program Teacher position at WNCSource?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position involves providing high-quality, educational experiences to enhance school readiness that comply with the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education program requirements.
This is a Full-time summer position that will only last about 10 weeks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively manage classroom activities and teach in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of WNCSource.

Build and maintain a positive, nurturing, and supportive relationship with the children
and families.
- Implement learning experiences that address physical health and development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, logic and reasoning skills.
- Learning experiences occur in both indoor and outdoor classrooms while actively supervising and engaging children.
- Complete timely, neat, accurate documentation on all required areas.
- Communicate regularly with parents and encourage their input (formal & informal daily communication)
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the classroom and on the playground; report safety hazards and/or equipment needs to the Site Supervisor; maintain appropriate adult/child ratio at all times.
- Follow all federal, state and organizational health and safety procedures.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Preferred: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood
Education, Child Development, or related field.
Minimum: CDA and EDU 119 completion
EXPERIENCE:
Prefer two years of experience teaching preschool or two years within a NC, licensed 4/5-star childcare
facility.
