Job Summary
Bus Monitors assist the driver with loading, unloading and student management on the school bus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensures the safety and well-being of children being transported to and from school and on field trips on vehicles used by the program, including but not limited to:
- Helping children board the bus safely
- Assuring that the bus driver is not distracted from the safe operation of the vehicle
- Helping children safely get off the bus and into the custody (only) of those individuals authorized to receive them
- Retrieving any fallen objects
- Follows and ensures mandated child restraint devise procedures, ensuring children are properly positioned and restrained (babies fastened in car seats, and seat belts for older children)
- Respond to passengers' questions, requests, or complaints.
- Determine or facilitate seating arrangements
- Perform equipment safety checks prior to departure
- Explain and demonstrate safety procedures and safety equipment use
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
