Job Summary
- Resource for BOCES and Component Districts: Serve as a primary point of contact for both BOCES and component districts, providing expertise and support in the implementation and management of special programs.
- Mentorship for Non-Tenured Administrators: Provide guidance, support, and professional development for non-tenured administrators to help them succeed in their roles and grow in leadership capacities.
- MTSS Frameworks: Lead and assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing support of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks, ensuring that the needs of all students are met, with a focus on at-risk students.
- Oversight of Behavioral Specialists and Behavioral Support Management: Oversee the implementation of behavioral support strategies and provide leadership for behavioral specialists within the district. Ensure effective management and support for students with behavioral challenges.
- IEP Training: Coordinate and lead training sessions for staff on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with regulations and the effective delivery of services.
- TCIS/Ukeru Training: Provide training and support in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) and Ukeru, emphasizing the importance of trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies in school settings.
- Teacher Aide Training: Design and deliver professional development programs for teacher aides, focusing on supporting students with special needs and enhancing their role in the classroom.
- Placements for Students in All Programs: Manage the placement of students in various special education and alternative programs, ensuring that placements align with student needs and regulatory requirements, including variances when and where appropriate.
- Direct Oversight of Special Education and Alternative Education Coordinators (Principals/Assistant Principals): Provide leadership and oversight for all coordinators. Ensure that these leaders are equipped to effectively manage their teams and meet the needs of their students.
- Direct Oversight of Related Services: Provide leadership and oversight of therapists/providers in the areas of speech, occupational, physical, vision, hearing, and operation & mobility therapy.
- Direct Oversight of Extended School Year Program: Responsible for the hiring, budget, theme, event coordination, site shifts, and completion and reporting of this summer program
- Direct Oversight of NYSAA and NYS 3-8 Testing: Ensures all training, surveys, and rosters are up-to-date and accurate. Ensures all tests are accounted for and submitted to State Ed. District liaison for all things testing, including Computer-Based Testing.
- Professional Development (PD) Expansion: As the role evolves, contribute to expanding PD opportunities, with an emphasis on the areas outlined above, ensuring that all personnel are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to serve students effectively.
- Other Duties as Assigned by the Director of Special Programs and Educational Services and the District Superintendent
- Master's degree in education, special education, or a related field (i.e. School Psychology).
- Valid NYS administrative certification.
- Experience working in educational leadership roles, preferably within special education or behavioral programs.
- Prior experience as CSE/CPSE Chairperson preferred
- Strong understanding of MTSS frameworks, IEP development, and behavior management strategies.
- Experience with TCIS/Ukeru and other trauma-informed care methods.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Travel between BOCES and component districts is required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary for training sessions or meetings.
