Job Description :
The Student Success Librarian is responsible for helping to advance the River Campus Libraries’ (RCL) research and learning strategies to key groups (particularly first-generation students, students from historically marginalized communities, international students, transfer students, graduate students, and students in the primary writing requirement program) by developing intentional projects and initiatives that ensure equitable access to quality information, programs, and services. The incumbent will research, lead, and implement programs and services that emphasize idea exploration and skill development, facilitating a student’s pursuit and creation of knowledge. Through such work, and in coordination with the Director of Learning Initiatives, the librarian will utilize user needs assessment methods to cultivate welcoming, meaningful, and inclusive connections with students and student groups whereby showcasing the value of the library to the student experience. With all student groups, the incumbent will work to enhance their current needs and aspirations while enabling a spirit of and the skills / tools for lifelong learning, seeing today’s students as tomorrow’s alumni. To achieve these responsibilities, the incumbent will collaborate closely with library colleagues (e.g., Library professionals from Learning and Research Initiatives, Rare Books, Special Collections & Preservation; Robbins Medieval Library; User Engagement; OER Working Group; Scholarly Communications Team; iZone; Patron Services) to identify and address emerging concerns within disciplinary work and with campus partners (e.g., Office of Minority Student Affairs [OMSA], International Services Office [ISO], Office of Disability Resources, Career Center, Student Association [SA], the Office of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs [GEPA]) to understand, anticipate, and fulfill student research and learning needs, develop collaborative and holistic programs and supports, and augment connections that leverage the library’s unique expertise, collections, and services.
