Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. This part-time position offers the opportunity for growth and the potential to transition to a full-time role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process; having a passion for ensuring accurate claims submissions, resolving and facilitating the collection of payments from patients and insurance companies. This role requires a solid understanding of medical and nephrology billing systems, coding practices, and familiarity with medical records.
Duties
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to ensure proper documentation of diagnoses and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Collaborate with the billing team to ensure all accounts are up to date and payments are properly applied
- Conduct medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and patient balances.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) guidelines and changes in billing regulations.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations regarding patient information confidentiality.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, financial summaries, and other billing-related tasks as requested.
- Manage medical records efficiently to support billing processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical and nephrology billing, coding, or a related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG.
- Proficient use of medical office billing system and billing software, EPIC knowledge highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Certification in medical billing is required.
