What are the responsibilities and job description for the Language Based Special Education Teacher position at Woburn Street School?
•Demonstrates a strong knowledge of program design, curriculum and instruction, and behavior management
•Develops curriculum suitable for the Language Based Students and will differentiate instruction accordingly to the students’ needs
•Support/Provide instruction in the inclusion setting
•Plan effective instructional strategies for adapting or modifying the general curriculum to meet the various needs of individual students
•Complete academic assessments for evaluation meetings (initials, reevaluations, additional assessments) as needed
•Facilitate special education meetings
•Plan effective instructional strategies for adapting or modifying the general curriculum to meet the various needs of individual students
•Participate in curriculum development as required
•Participate in the development of, and oversee implementation of IEP'S for students eligible for special education
•Conduct academic assessments/evaluations of student abilities and needs and serves as a member of IEP meetings
•Assist, support and work in collaboration with the school psychologist, district BCBA, administration, and all other related service providers in the development, implementation, and revision of student behavior plans
•Collect and analyze student performance data to determine the extent to which student IEP goals and objectives are being met
•Assist students with both academic and social/emotional goals as stated in Individualized Education Plans
•Develop personal relationships with the student's parents or guardians and works to establish with them an understanding and cooperative relationship based on the student's individual needs.
•Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with educational assistants, teachers, administration, and parents
•Maintain the integrity of confidential information regarding students
•Understanding and familiarity with the Special Education process and regulations
•Instruct and direct assigned educational assistant(s) to maximize delivery of instructional services, behavior
management, and data collection techniques
•Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
•Conduct baseline testing to determine educational needs and develop a strategic plan to address weaknesses.
•Maintains accurate, complete records
•Any and all other duties assigned by Building Administrator and/or Director of Student Support Services and
Coordinator of Special Education.
