Wofford College invites applicants for the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Administration position. Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the athletics compliance department, physical education department, and completing other administrative duties. This position is responsible for adhering to all Department and College policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Southern Conference and the NCAA.
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a normal work schedule is 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours will be expected along with some domestic and international travel and professional development opportunities. Minimal hours of work performance is 37.5 hours/week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Compliance
Maintain thorough knowledge of the NCAA Manual and legislative changes.
Advise coaches and student-athletes on NCAA, Southern Conference, and College rules.
Work closely with the Director of Athletics and Faculty Athletics Representative NCAA legislation.
Coordinate with NCAA office on rules interpretations, waivers, and self-reported violations.
Provide an orientation session for new coaches.
Conduct rules education at weekly and monthly staff meetings.
Oversee the documentation and compliance of all recruiting efforts.
Responsible for the submission of the Academic Performance Program.
Serve as liaison to Southern Conference on rules/regulations.
Serve as liaison to college Financial Aid office, Business office, and Bookstore for student-athletes.
Oversee Director of Compliance position.
Director of Student-Athlete Services
Work with student-athletes in advisement of academics, tutorial services, or other services requested.
Work with coaches in updating academic process of student-athletes.
Work with Registrar’s office to certify student-athlete eligibility.
Supervise Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Administration
Administrative oversight for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Rifle programs.
Organize departmental awards banquet and awards (Bosscars, etc.)
Maintain various department publications including Policy & Procedures Manual and Student-Athlete Handbook.
Chair of the Physical Education Department.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of NCAA, Southern Conference, and institutional rules and complies accordingly.
Be a Responsible Employee under the Sexual Misconduct Policy and must report all relevant information learned about alleged sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. No employee is authorized to investigate or resolve student complaints of Sexual Misconduct unless they are doing so at the request of the Title IX Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience in higher education & collegiate athletics.
Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
Strong decision-making skills and professional judgement.
Willing to travel and work evenings & weekends, as needed.
