How You’ll Contribute:
- Review drawings and specifications to determine scope and quantities to calculate pricing.
- Communicate, solicits, and works with sub-contractors in trades to obtain pricing for projects. Solicit and receive MEP bids, reviewing for scopes of work and pricing for completeness.
- You will determine quantities of materials in trades by using estimating department software: Quantity Take off, Timberline.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the conditions of the site or existing building.
- Communicate with bidders for final overview and assures completeness of bid before inclusion in an estimate, bid or guaranteed maximum price (GMP).
- You will review drawings and specifications for MEP assigned portions of Preconstruction
- Projects to calculate budgets from schematic through final construction documents.
- Communicate with team members, bid captains, estimating manager and others, convening scopes, pricing, construction details, etc.
- You will provide complete estimates on MEP trades and price work to budget for MEP trades.
- You will develop strategies to pursue, estimate and win competitive bids.
- Develop and establish the ability to budget MEP work without 100% of documentation including ability to visualize conceptually budget and plan a project.
- Contribute to Value Engineering and Constructability review that would further develop into a presentation format.
- You will procure MEP subcontractors and suppliers to perform work.
- Present MEP estimates and/or a portion of an estimate to both internal team members and also owners and architects and engineers.
- Develop the ability to evaluate projects and suggests possible alternatives to increase project profit or efficiency
- You will also support the Estimating Team to develop estimate reports, estimate books, and other presentation materials. Attend hand-off meeting with Estimators, Project Manager, and Superintendents. Help with presentations and development of presentations to owners and architect. Become an active member in both community and trade organizations which support you and Wohlsen.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, Architecture, or similar field of study.
- 3-10 years of construction experience and understanding of construction management, architecture, or engineering. Understand building construction types including structural systems, building skin and exteriors systems, finishes, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Have a knowledge of MEP systems and controls, and how they function, including, chilled water, condenser, hot water, steam, water source heat pump, VRF systems, direct expansion systems, domestic hot water systems, temperature control, fuel systems, lighting control, lighting control, low voltage systems, life safety systems, wiring and phasing, and other HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems. Understand MEP equipment and systems and how they are intended to function properly.
- FCU, WSHP, AHU, RTU, ERV, EXH, VRF, air and water balancing, plumbing booster pumps and sewerage ejectors, fire pumps, emergency generators, switchgear.
- Working knowledge of building codes, DOH requirements, NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, SMACNA and other recognized authorities in the industry.
- Read and understand MEP drawings and specifications.
- Understand different trades required to estimate and construct a building.
- Understand the scopes of work and work between scopes.
- Have a valid driver’s license and transportation to support remote offices and job sites. Can be on call and work overtime and weekends when needed to meet our goals. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with contractors and fellow employees.
