Job Description

Under the direction of management and in compliance with all state and federal regulations, works on a route, with a primary work being completed in the Lyons area, and extending to locations throughout the state. Employee will maintain district facilities as needed. Water treatment facility operation and water sampling will be a secondary role for this position but no less important. This position is a non-supervisory position and requires appropriate technical training to perform.

HoursFull Time, 40 hours per week with on-call and overtime as needed.

Salary $26 - $33 / Hour

Duties

The listed examples of work are not intended to be all-inclusive. They may be modified with additions, deletions, or changes as necessary.

Works under the direction of management in accordance with WCC written agreement and written operating plan as appropriate to their level of abilities, including but not limited to the following:

- Operates and maintains water treatment, distribution, and collection systems including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and pipeline equipment as outlined in service contract between WCC and facility owner.

- Maintains facilities and performs facility maintenance, road maintenance, equipment maintenance, pool maintenance, including mowing, snow removal, cleaning, and any other associated tasks as outlined in WCC contract w/ facility owner.

- Operates and maintains water treatment, distribution, and collection systems including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and pipeline equipment as outlined in service contract between WCC and facility owner.

- Becomes familiar with safety guidelines and utilizes them in the workplace.

- Inspects, where necessary, the work of contractors (i.e., oil pipeline, cable tv, telephone) where system equipment or property are involved.

- Inspects water storage tower – Which can exceed 100’ tall

- Locate underground utilities when necessary for contractors and landowners.

- Maintain activity log and associates with spare part inventory use (i.e., ordering, usage, receipt from supplier).

- Read flow meters, adjust pressure reducing valves, and repair flow meters.

- Sets meters and performs service inspections.

- Must become familiar with the rules, regulations, and policies of WCC, CDPHE, and CDOT.

- Collect water samples and deliver to the appropriate Laboratory for testing.

- Check chemical levels and refill or replace containers.

- Check water levels and pump operations.

- Run routine laboratory tests to determine proper chemical treatment.

- Maintain WCC and compliance records. This includes site visit reports, COCs, work orders, etc.

- Observes and inspects quality of raw water, finished water, and condition of all plant equipment.

- Assist and performs maintenance on machinery and equipment.

- Prepare daily reports on WCC Operations and Route work.

- Ability to move 40-pound bags and 55-gallon barrels of chemical.

- Employee will be subject to emergency callouts.

- Must be available to work on any shift either day or night, water utilities is a 24-hour a day, 7 days a week operation.

- Daily chemical analysis, handling of hazardous chemicals.

- Monitor the District systems through SCADA.

- Complete all tasks in accordance standard operating procedures or at the direction of the supervisor.

- Cross-trains and assists other departments when needed.

- Performs On-call duties related to snow plowing, drinking water plants, distribution systems, and raw water systems of WCC clients when needed.

- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and competencies

- Basic to advanced knowledge of hand tools, power tools, water hydraulics, chemistry, mathematics, plumbing, pumps, valves, motors, filters, and equipment maintenance.

- Ability to follow and understand safety procedures.

- The ability to identify, troubleshoot, and repair problems with a high degree of competency is required.

- Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and SCADA systems.

- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

- Ability to work without direct supervision.

- Ability to attend and understand technical courses.

- Ability to detect problems in equipment operations.

Time allocation

Time spend in each category is approximate

Customer service – 20%, Equipment checks and Maintenance – 30%, Driving to client sites – 20%, Leak work – 10%, Sampling – 10%,Other – 10%.

Education and certifications requirements

- WCC encourages and assists in employee advancing CCWP licensing in all disciplines. Continued work towards acquiring new licenses is expected.

- A driver’s license and clean driving record is required.

Relationships

- This position will not generally make decisions independently about the execution of work but will be able to perform assigned duties without need of direct supervision by utilizing standard operating procedure documents or verbal instructions from the Ownership.

- Must form effective, respectful, and courteous working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and third-party contractors.

- Refers any employees or customers to the appropriate individual in the case that the answer to a question is unknown or unavailable.

Pay: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour
