WHF has immediate openings for a skilled Industrial Painter at our Abingdon, VA facility. The Painter performs a variety of duties including laying out parts, sub-assemblies, and fabrications for priming, and final painting. A painter must be competent in using paint spray equipment and following safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their paint properties is.
Job Description
· Properly prepare bare steel, for priming.
· Must be able to mix paint for spray application.
· Must be able to prime and paint without runs, sags, or overspray.
· Please have experience using overhead cranes, and forklifts.
· You must perform housekeeping duties for paints, paint filters, primers, thinning agents, equipment, storage cabinets, paint booth, and adjacent areas during and after priming and painting of equipment.
· Occasionally participate in Continuous Improvement/Kaizen activities.
· You must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as respirators, disposable coveralls with hoods, safety glasses, gloves, as well as knowledge of proper ventilation during the painting process and knowledge of spill prevention measures to be taken if required.
Qualifications
· You must have a High School Diploma or GED required.
· Recommend a minimum of 1-3 years of experience.
· You must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to act and perform written and verbal instructions with autonomous execution with minimal guidance
Physical Requirements
· The ability to attend work predictably and regularly and to be punctual
· Be able to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
· Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time
· Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
· Be able to lift and/or move 20 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday.
