Qualifications
2 years of experience producing structural drawings in SDS2
Working knowledge of AISC detailing/fabrication/erection standards
A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of metal fabrications and the ability to complete design and detailed parts drawings for fabricators
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed drawings of structural steel for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architect.
ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Detail small to large structural and/or miscellaneous metal projects.
- Be able to take a project from start to finish.
- Be able to form working relationship with project managers.
- Must be able to perform at a high level to maintain project schedules.
- Can detail any size project with speed and accuracy.
- Will accept any challenge and perform the job or task at the highest level of professionalism.
- Provide mentoring and other valuable characteristics to drafting department as well as other departments.
- Detailer of layout and detailed shop drawings for small or large/complex projects.
- Some checking of other shop drawings may be required.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
The candidate will work primarily as a detailer creating fabrication, erection drawings, and bill of materials for structural, one-off, and miscellaneous steel projects
Occasionally this position requires interpretation of general designs that have been prepared by others to complete minor details, interpret contract drawings, and specifications
Create and update fabrication drawings for the shop to interpret and manufacture the parts designed
During fabrication, work with manufacturing to verify dimensions and assist with additional clarification details to the drawings provided
Confidently submit drawings for customer review/approval and incorporate any feedback into the final set of drawings that are released for fabrication
Create and submit RFI's as needed
Create and interpret drawings that include layout and structural assemblies which combine equipment and hardware used on each project with parts fabricated in-house (sheet and structural metal)
Maintain CAD library of both drawing files and .pdfs for shop use
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Associate's Degree in Architectural Drafting and/or equivalent work experience in related field.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Trained and experienced in the use of SDS
- Ability to read and understand blue prints.
- Construction background helpful.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must possess analytical skills.
- Must be self-motivated.
