Pay Rate
Pay rate starts at $20-$24/hr. (based on experience) and is overtime eligible. Position is paid bi-weekly as W2. Housing is available for select candidates.

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is seasonal; 35 hours per week; from May through the end of August. Early hiring to assist with scene shop opening and setup is available for candidates who can start before May 1st. Start and end dates can be flexible dependent on show requirements. Eligible candidates may start working 35 hours per week as early as February / March 2025 to help with pre-season preparation.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for assisting the Technical Director with all planning, purchasing, and execution of scenic elements. The ATD will work with the TD to ensure that seasonal personnel are managed effectively and efficiently in safe environments both at the scene shop and at the Barns. The ATD will work with the Master Carpenter to unsure the deck is managed in a safe and efficient manner. Evenings and weekends during tech will be required.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the TD in leading the build crew for 2 full opera productions as well as other supported events in the Barns.
- Assist in the mentorship of all Technical Theater Apprentices.
- Supervise and maintain management of the scene shop and Barns stage, including acting as the lead for load in and strike of each production, and restoring the Barns at the end of the season.
- Work with the TD and Master Carpenter to plan and execute scenery and manage the build deck.
- Must have working knowledge of Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of theatrical construction.
- Basic experience and/or knowledge of production management, scenery, and lighting
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Proven leadership and project management ability in the performing arts.
- Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
- Minimum 3 years of scene shop experience.
- Lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend and reach with arms up to 50 percent of the time.
- Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
