Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts seeks an Audience Development Assistant (Variable, up to 29 hours per week, Year-Round) to coordinate external marketing and promotional outreach activities to drive increased ticket sales and to promote an awareness of Wolf Trap’s performances. Use a variety of marketing and promotional techniques to develop and execute acquisition plans that are in line with the organization’s marketing strategy. Assist in developing new targeting strategies and cultivate relationships to retain and acquire single ticket buyers, group customers, and partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Audience Development and Marketing Outreach:

• Represent the Foundation at off-site community events to raise awareness of Wolf Trap programs and marketing opportunities.
• Provide on-site coverage at marketing activation and pre-performance events to enhance customer experiences.
• Populate and maintain multiple databases of local groups and area organizations and businesses; use discretion in determining which to target for audience building, grassroots outreach, and sales.
• Collaborate with Marketing team on generating grassroots marketing ideas and perform research for targeted marketing efforts.
• Participate in the research and development of local advertising opportunities.
• Prepare, route, and deploy grassroots marketing emails.
• Assist Manager, Audience Development and Marketing with brochure and handbill distribution.
• Provide coverage at the Wolf Trap Press Office for select performances during the summer.

Coordination:

•  Assist Audience Development Manager with recruiting a seasonal team of Brand Ambassadors, Intern, and Mascot.
• Schedule the seasonal team and Volunteers for pre-performance activations, handbill distribution, and off-site community events.
• Submit creative requests and help manage marketing projects.
• Other Duties as assigned.                                                                 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• BA/BS degree in communications, marketing, business, hospitality management and tourism, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in hospitality, arts, or entertainment.
• Special events and/or promotional experience are highly beneficial.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Motivated, outgoing, and an effective networker
• Effective and persuasive oral and written communications, as well as being comfortable     speaking before and presenting to large groups of people
• Detail-oriented, able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.
• Independent, responsible, creative, and self-motivated, with the ability to participate effectively in a team environment and work well with others.
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends, especially over the summer season; some travel may be required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills
• Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time
• Regularly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. cell phone, calculator, scanner, copier, printer, etc.)
• Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds infrequently
