Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Development will lead the organization's comprehensive fundraising program, driving revenue growth to support the mission of BBBS Broward. This strategic leadership role reports directly to the CEO and manages the Events and Development Coordinator. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute multi-year fundraising strategies, including capital and major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, and annual giving initiatives.
- Drive revenue growth by meeting an annual individual fundraising goal of $250,000 and overseeing long-term growth milestones.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with high-level donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders to secure long-term commitments.
- Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, coordinating with marketing teams to maximize impact and align messaging with organizational goals.
- Utilize advanced sales and pipeline management skills to optimize donor engagement, tracking, and forecasting.
- Partner with the CEO, board members, and senior leaders to align fundraising activities with organizational priorities.
- Oversee tracking and analysis of fundraising data to assess effectiveness, refine strategies, and report progress to leadership.
- Create and manage the development budget, supporting financial planning related to fundraising efforts.
- Stay informed of industry trends and implement innovative strategies to expand and diversify the donor base.
- Maintain strong understanding of BBBS programs and community resources to effectively secure funding for various organizational needs.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field; equivalency considered
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success in fundraising, securing major gifts and multi-year contracts
- Experience managing development team members and collaborating with other departments
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven track record in sales/fundraising, with strong pipeline management skills
- Strategic thinking and ability to execute long-term fundraising strategies
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with high-level donors and stakeholders
- Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting related to development
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and fundraising databases (e.g., Matchforce/Salesforce)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Willingness to travel as required
Preferred:
- Knowledge of children's services programs
- Personal or professional experience with non-profit organizations
