Role Summary:
Wolfe is seeking a DevOps Engineer to lead and enhance our DevOps strategy, focusing on automation, scalability, security, and efficiency in cloud environments. The job title—Principal, Senior Staff, or Director—will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
This role plays a critical part in designing and implementing best-in-class DevOps solutions that drive operational excellence across the organization. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product, Development, QA, Security, and IT—to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. While this role may or may not have direct people management responsibilities, it requires hands-on leadership in strategy, governance, execution of DevOps best practices and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Cloud/DevOps.

Responsibilities:
- Define and execute DevOps strategy to optimize cloud infrastructure, on-prem infrastructure, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and security practices.
- Define and implement on-prem virtualized environments (e.g. Proxmox, etc.), networks, and storage devices.
- Champion and implement AI tools to enhance the productivity, quality and security of infrastructure and CI/CD.
- Lead the design, implementation, and governance of AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance (PCI, SOC2, etc.).
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to streamline deployments, improve system reliability, and enhance scalability.
- Drive automation-first principles by implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation tools.
- Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless code deployments with minimal downtime.
- Implement and refine Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve system performance, monitoring, and incident response.
- Develop and enforce security best practices in cloud environments, including IAM policies, encryption, and network security.
- Lead troubleshooting and incident response efforts, ensuring rapid resolution of infrastructure and production issues.
- Advocate for continuous improvement by evaluating emerging DevOps tools, technologies, and methodologies.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to DevOps engineers and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in cloud-focused DevOps engineering, with deep expertise in AWS.
- 5 years leadership experience, both as a hands-on technical lead and as a people manager in DevOps, Cloud, or SRE teams.
- 2 years implementing AI in DevOps/SRE engineering
- Expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, and CloudFront.
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) skills, with hands-on experience in Terraform.
- Proficiency in virtualization and hypervisor technologies (e.g. Proxmox, VMWare, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of linux operating systems, networking concepts, and security best practices.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python).
- Extensive experience with Docker and container orchestration, including scaling, managing workloads, and deploying manifests.
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipeline automation using tools like BitBucket, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, observability, and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, SumoLogic, Datadog, etc.).
- Strong background in cloud security best practices, compliance frameworks (PCI, SOC2), and incident response.
- Experience working at a company that has grown from a small team (25-50 people) to over 300 people is a plus.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
- Experience in high-scale fintech, e-commerce, or SaaS environments is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
