What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Supervisor - Order Picking position at Wolff Bros. Supply, Inc.?
Wolff Bros. Supply, Inc. is one of the largest independent Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC distributors in America. We are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to add to our growing team at our Medina location.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is currently only open to internal candidates!
Schedule: Monday – Friday 10AM – 8PM
Pay: $45,000-65,000
Reports to the Regional Operations Manager to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, maintains accurate inventory levels, and ensures receiving & shipping standards are being followed. Maintains a high level of customer service and positive work environment for the employees being managed as well as the other teams they interact with.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Responsible for maintaining the morale and well-being of the employees under their supervision
- Evaluates employees, prepares and conducts performance reviews for their team
- Coach employees to find success in their assigned duties
- Ensures employees are following all company policies and procedures
- Works with the Regional Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, and the HR Team to initiate disciplinary action up to termination as needed
- Works with Warehouse Manager and HR team to request hiring actions, interview candidates, and conduct staffing plans for warehouse and delivery staff
- Manages and approves time off requests
Daily Operations:
- Understands and monitors the daily tasks that need to be completed within their functional area, while supporting the entire warehouse operation.
- Reviews available personnel each day and repositions employees to accomplish the priority tasks
- Listens to and responds to employee questions
- Communicates throughout the day with other members of the location’s operations management team.
- Helps the warehouse team to provide excellent customer service
- Works with the Warehouse Manager to prioritize the tasks for the day
- Responds to emails and other requests in a timely and professional manner
- Monitors attendance, approves timecards, address any timekeeping issues
- Approves overtime when necessary
Productivity:
- Reviews employee activities to ensure jobs are being performed correctly or to find jobs that could be done more efficiently and to determine areas where additional training or cross-training is needed
- Evaluates employee capabilities and delegates or assigns special tasks where possible
- Ensures receiving and shipping processes are being followed and ensures standards are being met
- Make suggestions to improve processes
Training and Development:
- Facilitates and arranges training for new employees
- Ensures cross training is done for all employees, with the exception of defined highly skilled positions
- Provide developmental opportunities for Team Leads
- Oversees machine training
Inventory Maintenance:
- Monitors receiving dock operations and directs employees to ensure items are received and put away in a timely manner
- Tracks inventory cycle counting and ensures cycle counting program is being followed.
- Reviews cycle count accuracy and works to obtain an accuracy of 95% correct or greater for the items counted
Safety and Housekeeping:
- Overseas safety compliance with company; ensures all employees are following safety procedures
- Monitors equipment condition to maintain in safe, operable condition; when necessary, reports equipment issues to the Warehouse Manager
- Ensures proper reporting of workplace injuries and incidents to the Warehouse Manager and HR Team
Reports, Meetings & Miscellaneous:
- Consults with Regional Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, and other Supervisors to share methods of improving operations or to resolve problems
- Reviews weekly quality reports and other operations reports and takes timely action to respond to the information in the reports
- Documents site specific procedures for employees
- Attends seminars or classes to improve warehouse & management skills
- Needs to be able to travel to other locations, meetings, seminars, and special assignments.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements/Expectations:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years warehouse/distribution experience
- Minimum of 5 years warehouse management experience
- Minimum of 5 years of people management experience
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to evolving job tasks
- Good problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates a proficiency in managing multiple small teams
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems
