We’re looking for a construction Permitting Technician to ensure a seamless permitting process for our clients.

Position Overview:

As a Permitting Technician, you will be the go-to expert for securing the necessary permits before a sale is finalized and before construction begins.
You’ll work alongside with your supporting Permitting Team, closely with our planning and project management teams, engineers, and permitting authorities to ensure a smooth and timely approval process.
Most importantly, you’ll be our clients’ advocate—ensuring they feel supported, informed, and confident in moving forward with their projects.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has a keen eye for navigating permitting regulations and requirements.

A Day in the Life:

• Work days of Monday-Friday, & some Saturdays (as needed)
• Working hours 8am-5pm (Central Time) Saturdays 9am-12pm (if your dept is behind or you want to put the extra time)

• Review New Projects: Check the latest client projects that require permit processing and confirm your team gathers all necessary documentation.
• Client Outreach: Proactively contact clients with specific permit requirements to elaborate and ensure they understand the necessary steps.
• Engage with Engineers: Work with building and foundation engineers to obtain any drawings, calculations, or additional documents needed for permit approvals.
• Permit Research: Help your team contact city/county permitting offices to verify zoning requirements, building codes, and any restrictions for upcoming projects.
• Follow Up on Pending Permits: Check on permit applications in progress and contact the appropriate permitting authorities to expedite approvals or resolve any outstanding issues.
• Support Sales: Provide permit-related insights to the Sales Team so they can properly set expectations with potential clients before a sale is finalized.
• Support Planning & Project Management: Provide permit-related insights to the Planning & Project Management Teams so they can properly set expectations with potential clients before we begin constructing.
• Client Issue Resolution: If a client is experiencing a delay or uncertainty with the permit process, investigate the issue, communicate with the relevant permitting authority, and provide the client with an update to ease concerns.
• Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all permit records are accurately documented and organized for each project to ensure smooth handoffs to the Project Management Team once permits are secured.
• Meet with Project Teams: Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure permit requirements align with construction schedules and that no project begins without the necessary approvals.
• Reporting & Process Improvement: Track permit approval timelines, client concerns, and common permitting challenges. Present key findings to the COO to identify opportunities for streamlining the permitting process.
• Client Check-Ins: Follow up with clients at critical points in their permitting journey to confirm they have what they need and that everything is moving forward smoothly.
• Develop Your Team: Help develop the team around you so everyone can work in sync together, to streamline processes and experiences, to then allow us to open up more opportunities for growth!

Salary:

$20 /hour (based on experience)
Plus monthly commission after training
Plus OT (up to 45 hrs)
