Wolters Kluwer is undergoing a major transformation effort across all functions and has been consistently delivering / outperforming market expectations. We are embarking on a new wave of transformation powered by AI tools, which we are increasingly embedding in our product portfolio.

The Business Operations & Strategy (BizOps) Group drives transformation across all part of Wolters Kluwer i.e., Global BUs, Global Technology, Global Business Services (GBS) and other central functions. The team provides thought leadership to identify, assess, implement, and manage a robust pipeline of operational improvements. Collaborating with the business divisions, technology, finance, and strategic sourcing groups, the BizOps & Strategy identifies & prioritizes opportunities, evaluates options, engages vendors, and executes strategic initiatives.

From opportunity identification and business case development to project management and communication, the team plays an active role in every stage of transformation. Their work involves analyzing data, interviewing experts, exploring cost and service level improvements, operationalizing opportunities, designing strategic plans, launching pilots, and driving measurable outcomes tied to tangible KPIs. There’s no “typical” day—team activities span brainstorming, strategic planning, and implementation, all with a focus on enhancing efficiency and effectiveness across functions.

What’s the role?

The BizOps team is seeking a Director to lead strategic initiatives and drive impactful business transformations. This role involves close collaboration with global executive teams across Wolters Kluwer.

As a senior team member, the Director will shape strategic projects, provide thought leadership, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver critical insights and measurable results.

Key responsibilities include :

Operations & Execution : Lead strategic projects addressing high-priority business challenges, providing actionable insights and recommendations to drive cross-functional alignment.

Strategy Development : Inform leadership decisions through market research, competitive analysis, and strategic insights, synthesizing information for executive consumption.

Ownership : Lead high-impact initiatives, including business case development, implementation, and change management.

Problem Solving : Structure and resolve complex, ambiguous operational or business challenges with clear, actionable recommendations.

Data Analysis : Quickly gather and analyze large datasets, leveraging research and insights to enable data-driven decision-making.

Performance Management : Develop and track key business performance metrics.

Project Management : Oversee multiple projects from initiation to execution, meeting timelines and success criteria.

Prioritization : Balance competing demands to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects.

Stakeholder Management : Effectively manage expectations and communicate progress across stakeholders.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are :

Experience : Minimum of 6-8 years of professional experience, ideally with an advanced degree such as Master’s or MBA; if no advanced degree, minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience

Prior experience / background in consulting or corporate strategy is preferred. Experience with information systems, software suites, operational excellence topics is beneficial but not a must-have

Analytical Skills : Exceptional critical thinking, with the ability to simplify complex problems into actionable insights.

Leadership : Prior experience managing direct and indirect reports, with a willingness to coach and develop their skills

Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects / workstreams at once with different stakeholder groups and simultaneous deadlines

Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly to C-suite & senior stakeholders

Flexibility : Growth mindset with the ability to adapt to unstructured environments and tackle new topics.

Collaboration : Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Attention to Detail : High level of precision, capable of independent work in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Proficiency : Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills; familiarity with additional analytical tools is a plus.

Travel : Less than 20%, only for essential project needs.

Compensation :

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA : $189,950 - $268,900
