This role is part of the Advanced Technology team in the Digital eXperience Group (*/dxg), which co-creates state-of-the-art products and solutions with Wolters Kluwer businesses around the globe. Our growing array of solutions supports the expanding set of Wolters Kluwer’s Expert Solutions and online product portfolios. Within */dxg, the Advanced Technology (AT) Group serves as WK’s AI and machine learning (ML) center of excellence, integrating AI/ML into products across divisions. While focusing on large language models (LLMs), AT also applies classical ML techniques to enhance product capabilities.
This role supports WK’s Corporate Performance and ESG Division, the company’s newest and fastest-growing segment. The division delivers solutions in corporate performance, governance, and sustainability. In the role of Principal AI Engineer & Applied Researcher, you will take early ideas and build prototypes, while experimenting with advanced technologies and platforms. You should be willing to take on challenges of unknown dimensions, and work hand in hand with legal firms and lawyers, corporate legal customers, and data scientists to prototype and test early concepts. You will need to have very strong technical skills, deep curiosity, business acumen, and the ability to think fast and act fast.

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $183,700 - $260,050

You’re a fit for the role of AI Engineer & Applied Researcher if you have:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience in these areas will also be considered.
- 7 years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML systems in production.
- Proven success in translating complex customer challenges into high-quality, impactful AI solutions.
- Advanced understanding of large language models, including best practices in combining LLMs with search, enhancing with domain-specific content, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in software development, encompassing version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines, with demonstrated knowledge in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to cross-functional stakeholders.
- A results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering scalable, maintainable, and impactful solutions.
