About The Role
- The Materials Planning intern provides support to the Materials Planning and Scheduling department staff in the scheduling and forecasting of required volumes of raw materials, goods and products inbound to the business from its supply chain companies. This person will ensure the supply of materials meets the production schedule and minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity. Candidate should be able to deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.
- Assist with scheduling raw material orders with the suppliers and track ship dates to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide support to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production line as and when required, avoiding disruption to production.
- Assist in generating and communicating supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
- Support manufacturing plant with supply issues.
- Assist in performing production ordering and MRP scheduling.
- Monitor inventory levels against agreed upon target levels.
- Follows all safety rules and procedures in the performance of this position’s duties and reports any unsafe practices to the supervisor.

Qualifications
- Student in AAS or BA/BS program in Supply Chain Management / Materials Planning or Business or related field required.
- Availability to work at least 20 hours up to 40 hours per week.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Possess a positive “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
