About The Role
- Oversees and maintains company"s investment in facilities and equipment, physical appearance and image by scheduling maintenance, repair, or replacement of the same and by keeping applicable records. Supervises and coordinates activities of maintenance employees by performing the following duties.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties accordingly.
- Develops and maintains a preventive/predictive maintenance system for any and all major facilities, systems and production equipment.
- Obtains and optimum level of inventory of maintenance supplies and materials by reviewing stock levels and requisitioning purchases.
- Supervises all physical changes and upgrades to the facilities.
- Assure that the utility systems are operating as required for service and regulation including managing internal and external resources necessary to maintain these systems (fire, septic, water, etc.)
- Assures that all maintenance, upgrades and additions to the facilities and equipment are performed according to required codes, regulations, and safe practice standards.
- Obtains quality service required of outside labor and services providers by interviewing them and evaluating their price, goods, and services.
- Protects company property and employees by maintaining security system.
- Assists in achieving annual operating plan by monitoring expenses and making prudent business decisions. As a support department to manufacturing, coordinates maintenance activities with other departments. Discusses priorities, schedule changes, and issues with production on an ongoing basis.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving work problems.
- Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949).
- Makes and implements recommendations that promote continuous improvement.
- Takes part in layered audits, responds to internal audit findings immediately, and takes corrective action.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Directly supervises employees in Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, applicable laws, and the labor contract.
Qualifications
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work any continuous or fixed schedule, possibly including an excessive number of hours (12 – 16) in a single workday, on any day of the calendar week depending on business needs.
- Preferred TS/QS experience
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and Minitab
- Preferred Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, minimum of Green Belt
- Knowledge of Visual Systems, Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, FIFO Staging, 6S and Waste Elimination
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
