What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at Wolverine Building Group?
Responsibilities:
- Attends internal kickoff meetings with project team two weeks prior to project start.
- Reviews project information with Superintendent and Project Manager (PM) including contracts, as-built drawings, and schedules.
- Sets up job site and temporary office per company procedures.
- With Superintendent, conducts pre-start meeting with subcontractors to review scope, schedule, and expectations.
- Coordinates delivery and staging of supplies, managing materials that have a long lead time, directed by supervisor.
- With Superintendent, manages trade schedules, coordinates work with other trades, and reviews plans with foremen.
- With Superintendent, conducts progress meetings with PM, owner, and subcontractors to discuss job status, safety, and upcoming work.
- Gathers info for potential Requests for Information (RFI’s) and follows up with PM on responses.
- Records work activities in daily log, entering work completed, photographs, documentation, and time worked for Wolverine employees in Procore.
- With Superintendent, holds subcontractors accountable for performing their scope of work.
- With Superintendent, resolves issues, communicates with proper trades, and reports to PMs.
- With Superintendent, handles and resolves disputes between subcontractors.
- Updates drawings with any bulletins or addendums.
- Compiles and shares data with supervisor for look-ahead schedule with work sequencing for the next 2-4 weeks.
- Coordinates inspections for materials, building, soils, and engineering.
- Prioritizes safety with a Safety-First approach from planning to completion, ensuring compliance with the Site-Specific Safety Plan, WBG Safety Manual, and MIOSHA requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience working in construction as a Project Engineer or foreman.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine):
- OSHA 30-Hour certified or completed within six months of hire.
- First Aid and CPR
- Heavy machine operator card, rigging awareness, asbestos awareness, and aerial work platform operator training.
