What are the responsibilities and job description for the Iron Worker position at Wolverine Building Group?

Responsibilities:
- Erects steel columns and makes proper bolt connections between the rafters and columns, ensuring the building frame is square and plum before the siding and roof is started.
- Assists in layout and preparation for structural steel erection.
- Able to troubleshoot steel erection issues.
- Uses metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel.
- Unloads, inventories, and organizes prefabricated steel so that it can be lifted easily with slings.
- Directs a crane to lift steel beams, girders, and columns in place.
- Works within the project timeline and budget.
- Plans, organizes, and participates in project tasks.
- Hold daily huddles and weekly toolbox talks.
- Manages and documents production to ensure or exceed budget goals.
- Predicts resources needed to complete tasks through look ahead schedules.
- Trains and mentors team members.
- Available to lead Teams across multiple different tasks.
- Manages equipment inventory and materials on site as well as budget.
- Monitors and ensures on-site safety compliance and cleanliness through daily safety inspections for task assigned.
- Oversees quality control.
- Maintains records for site personnel and production through daily logs, timecards, photos, and notes.
- Understands and reads blueprints, shop drawings and specifications.
Requirements:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a foreman or crew lead in mini storage.
- Experience in pre-engineered buildings is a plus.
- Must have reliable, consistent transportation.
- Able/willing to work in central Michigan.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine):
- OSHA 10-Hour certified or completed within six months of hire.
- First Aid and CPR certified or completed within six months of hire.
- Already or willing to become trained in:
- Licensed on equipment
- Proficient in and ability to lead four of the following: Metal Roofing, Metal Sidewall, Erection of PEMB, PEMB Trims.
