What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surface Operator position at Wolverine Fuels?
JOB LOCATION: Canyon Fuel Company - Fossil Rock Mine
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the safe and efficient loading of coal onto trucks and rail cars while maximizing the effective utilization of resources provided to deliver a quality product to various customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Operate mobile equipment on uneven surfaces
- Frequent overhead work- belt lines, silos, and elevators.
- Ability to work inside confined areas on chute liners and chute repair projects
- Continuous standing and walking for extended periods of time in inclement weather and in dark, noisy, dirty, and wet work environments
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, extending, and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance on machines and/or equipment
- Reasonable strength, agility, and stamina (long hours)
- Good hand-eye co-ordination, hearing, and eyesight
- Good spatial perception for judging distances
- Ability to remain alert while performing repetitive tasks
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts and schedules
- Work with Trucking Companies, drivers, railroad & others in a professional manner
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a current CDL or have ability to obtain CDL within the first year of new assignment.
- Excellent interpersonal & communications skills both written and oral
- Excellent safety and attendance record
- Must have experience operating heavy equipment
- Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
- Must have basic computer skills
