Overall Job Purpose:
This position offers an opportunity for individuals with a background in maintenance or technical fields to gain valuable experience in the underground coal mining industry. Responsibilities Include:
- Support the safety and health goals and objectives of Canyon Fuel Company, LLC.
- Perform maintenance tasks as assigned in a manner that maximizes safety and efficiency.
- Comply with Federal and State regulations governing underground coal mine operations.
- Work effectively with peers and supervisors to achieve maintenance objectives.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently and perform tasks requiring physical agility.
- Traverse uneven surfaces, work overhead, climb, and use hand tools on a regular basis.
- Work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Engage in frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and extending.
- Work in damp and somewhat dark environments associated with an underground coal mine.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous industrial or mining maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to comprehend equipment schematics and blueprints.
- A technical degree in relevant field will be considered a plus.
- MSHA low, medium, and high voltage electrical certification or ability to obtain.
- Proficient use of hand tools associated with maintenance activities.
