POSITION SUMMARY
The Material Handler I supports production by maintaining and continually stocking workstations with proper materials for each individual job. Works with supervisors, warehouse, shipping and receiving and other department personnel in transporting materials to proper areas before, during and after a job. Works cooperatively with area supervisor to achieve maximum production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Looking at job specifications retrieves material from designated staging area and delivers to appropriate area.
- Verifies and sorts materials delivered to staging area according to shippers.
- Monitors materials at each of the machines and work tables and responds promptly and courteously to requests for additional materials
- Delivers stock to operators confirming stock codes to ensure correct material is being delivered.
- Maintains proper documentation control through accurate data recording and follow receiving procedures.
- Ensures each skid of completed material is identified correctly and move to the next area with appropriate documentation.
- Transports all overstock immediately after job is completed to designated area.
- Maintains and stock materials for next shift.
- Removes trash and boxes from the manual assembly area.
- Perform routine cleaning of surrounding area.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write to understand instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (hand and electric powered pallet jacks) preferred.
- Computer literate, able to work with basic Windows computer application (startup, shutdown, point and click, read and understand data presented on screen).
- Good organizational skills.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, smell, and hearing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to warehouse equipment, dust, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
