Position Summary
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and good operating condition of WSG facility for employees and visitors. Works cooperatively with managers and other WSG employees to maintain a clean and well-maintained facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
the essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• services, cleans, or supplies restrooms.
• cleans floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• gathers and empties trash, sorting recyclables as necessary.
• follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• cleans windows, doors, or mirrors.
• notifies manager concerning the need for both minor and major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• recommends supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors.
• assists maintenance supervisor in maintaining outside areas including picking-up trash and maintaining sidewalks during winter.
• makes minor repairs in areas of plumbing, lighting and carpentry.
• moves equipment and furniture as needed, for cleaning or renovation purposes.
• performs routine cleaning of assigned equipment and work areas.
• follows health and safety policies and procedure.
• maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with employees at every level.
- Effective time management, organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in writing and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, smell, and hearing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to warehouse equipment, dust, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
